Our Teacher Training Program is a Long Island resident’s dream! We know you’ve heard of Pilates on Fifth, aka Pilates Academy International, located in NYC. Well, we’ve brought their knowledge and program to you! The Pilates Absession is a hosting facility for Pilates Academy International!
The Pilates Absession is thrilled to announce its affiliation with the Pilates Academy International Teacher Training Program. Join Long Island’s hosting facility for Pilates Academy International as you advance your career and develop your personal growth. The Pilates Academy International, Pilates on Fifth’s Pilates teacher training program, is dedicated to training competent and confident instructors in the Pilates method. The program prepares you for teaching well-rounded, inspiring Pilates mat classes and personalized lessons for all body types on all the Pilates equipment including the Reformer, Cadillac, Chairs and Barrels. Many of our instructors have graduated from this well known school.
The Core Curriculum
All courses at the Pilates Academy International will focus on the following:
- Fundamental execution of each exercise
- Anatomy and biomechanics of each exercise
- Exercise modification skills
- Cueing and correcting skills
- Workout design skills
- Transition skills
Pilates and fitness enthusiasts can be trained to teach on the following Pilates equipment:
- Mat — including small props
- Reformer
- Cadillac — also called the “Trap Table”
- Chair
- Anatomy, Biomechanics, and Posture Analysis
- We also offer courses in Special Conditions and a variety of workshops using various Pilates props and on relevant fitness/medical related topics to prepare you to teach a wide variety of clients.

HOW you teach is just as important as WHAT you teach!
A great Pilates instructor must have five essential skills:
Solid understanding of anatomy, biomechanics and postural issues
Strong command of the Pilates exercise repertoire
Ability to see the need for modifications and adjust accordingly
Ability to progress and challenge clients safely and effectively
Ability to inspire and motivate clients to reach their fitness goals
